Ed’s Scan Report
We saw Dr. Siegel today and he was happy with Ed's scan results. Although we were never able to get a firm diagnosis just from a scan before, the lymph nodes are not swollen and that's a good sign. What he's concerned with is the higher temps that Ed's been getting over the last two weeks. He's only had temps twice in the 100 range but even 98-99 are high for him since his 'normal' temp is 97.5.
He wants us to call if it gets to 101 and we'll see him in 3 weeks.
He does want him to make an appointment with the cardiologist (Dr. Marakovits) since the scan showed a few heart issues. The heart is enlarged – which we've heard before and we've also heard the term congestive heart failure. He's retaining a lot of fluid and the lasix that he's been taking doesn't seem to be working as well as before. This, combined with the low red blood cells is the reason for his lack of energy and needing to nap off and on during the day.
Just to add one more thing – he also had the bleeding again on Friday and Saturday. I didn't find out about this until Monday and, by then, the bleeding had stopped. He thought the amount of coumadin the doctor had him taking was too much so he cut back on his own and the bleeding stopped. He has doctored himself many times before, so I know not to argue with him.
Thank you to everyone who have been thinking of us and praying that the test results would be good. We have just a little ways to go yet, but we feel the worst is behind us.
We're going to let go of all this and take it one day at a time! So looking forward to the annual sister's trip to CT.
