Port Removal – Radiation Begins

Back to posting in the journal after taking a few weeks off to focus on getting stronger.  Looking back on how many months this has been is overwhelming and, sometimes, hard to believe.  I still have a ways to go with radiation but, I feel the worst part is over.

Never realized how important eyelashes are for many reasons…. one, they keep tiny flecks of everything from falling into your eyes and…. two, they help eliminate the deer in the headlights look. Little sprouts of hair are starting to pop up on an otherwise totally bald head but a wig covers that up nicely.  Not much I can do with two stray eyelashes!

On Friday I'll have the port removed and, even though it doesn't bother me, it will be nice to have it gone.  It did its job well and I'm grateful to Kris for suggesting it.

Monday, April 11th will be the start of my radiation that will be 5 days a week for 5-6 weeks.  I've already had the preliminary setup with my bean bag cushion and my tattoos.  To explain a little more…. the bean bag cushion was placed under my upper back and all air was sucked out of it.  This allowed the cushion to mold to my body and will be used to keep me in the same position for every treatment.  The tattoos are simply three tiny little dots they will line up to make sure the radiation is aiming in the right direction.

I'm ready for the next challenge and to beat the crap out of this so it never, ever returns.  There are so many to thank for being with me throughout this journey in so many ways.  It's impossible to name everyone but each of you have my deepest gratitude and love.

Love to all
Linda
