Feeling Better
The ultrasound and x-rays came back negative, so the pain was probably due to him not moving while on his back with both arms hooked up to IV’s. They wanted to make sure there were no blood clots since he was in a lot of pain. Thankfully, that was not the issue.
His blood count was at 8.3 and is holding… as we hold our breath, too. They’ll start him on coumadin and take him off the heparin drip and see how that level is doing.
He had more solid food, and you know he’s hungry when he eats whatever is on the tray. They will be watching to make sure his bowels move successfully. No word on when he’ll be coming home, but it should be within a day or two.
It was great for Dan and Diane to stop by and give him a nice diversion for a while. He’s missing watching Luke play hockey on his big TV at home, but Dan was keeping him updated with the scores.
The great roommate he had went home on Saturday and he really missed him. They had a lot of fun together and it passed the time – even though they never had the curtain between them open. When Ed had to drink the prep for the colonoscopy he had to run (sort of) to the bathroom and he didn’t care if his hospital gown was flying open or not. He told him to just call him ‘flash.’ So that’s what he called him all the time!
We’re on the other side of the mountain now, and he continues to amaze all of us. How much more his body can endure is beyond our imagination. Once again, thank you to everyone for all the prayers. As my brother (Lips) says… “Ed is still the six million dollar man!”
