Not Home
After a rough night, he looked pretty good when I saw him. He was alert, talking, watching TV and ate lunch. When PT came, they told him he couldn't go home if he wasn't able to lift himself from the chair – which he couldn't do yesterday without help. He tried four times, today, and struggled each time, so they will need to work with him on getting those arms stronger. It's not his legs, it's his arms.
After a stroll with PT, he went back into the chair and within 10-15 minutes he started nodding off and on and talking goofy stuff, the same as he did last time. Called the nurse and told her my concern and how after the previous surgery, he did the same thing and we were told it was his kidneys not clearing out the pain meds. Of course, when she came in he was alert and talking just fine, but I do have about 5 minutes of it on video. She felt it may be sleep deprivation, from the night before, and wanted him in quiet time – is that the same as time out???
Also asked about the transfusion and the nurse said there was nothing mentioned about that at all. She looked at Ed and asked who told him that and he said two people in blue coats! He's so funny, but I do believe that someone told him because he said they asked if he would accept a transfusion. She said even though the blood count is low (6.1) he isn't symptomatic so they won't do one.
We shall see what tomorrow brings and we hope he will be able to come home.
