News About Ed
For months, Ed has been dealing with a lot of different issues even though his knee replacement surgeries went well. He was so excited about not feeling any pain, but things started to change and he was sliding backwards in his recovery. We joined Silver Sneakers in hopes it would motivate him to keep moving and doing better physically, but nothing seemed to help.
Tuesday (Dec 3) we saw Dr. Zweig and he was very concerned about the low blood count from the test done on Friday. He said he felt Ed was either bleeding from somewhere, or his bone marrow was not making new blood. Sent us to the ER and he was admitted and given 2 units of blood which didn’t boost the count as expected. Plan was to do a colonoscopy & endoscopy on Thursday if his blood count and coumadin level were ok.
He started the prep at 5:00 tonight for the colonoscopy and he said when he went to the bathroom he thinks all the blood they gave him came out. So, it does sound like there is bleeding going on in his colon, which he had in 2017. They’ll figure it out and get him feeling better.
Tim and Kim have been with him this evening and it was nice change of pace from seeing me every day. They were doing additions blood tests, so hope everything is still on for tests on Thursday.
