FaceTime with Sisters
It definitely is getting more difficult to see the way Ed is not responding like he was before. Today, he didn’t want to do much of anything, even talk or eat. His favorite thing to do is chew on ice chips.
He did become a little more alert when he got a FaceTime call from his sisters. It was nice to see his eyes open and him responding to them. He really enjoyed seeing Joan, Linda, Kris and Kathy (his sister from another mother). It had to be hard for them to see him, but they were all smiles and even cracking jokes. Rege and Jerry popped into the picture for a minute.
He had another unit of blood and a chest x-ray, so they continue to monitor him closely and all the nurses and aides are unbelievably sweet. Tim, Kim and I talked to him about what he wants and he just wants to come home. It’s hard to tell if he knows what’s happening and how sick he is, because he keeps saying he will get stronger when he’s home. We’ve all seen him fight to get better, and he’s done it so many times, that we still hang on to that thought.
We watched bits and pieces of Polar Express, his favorite Christmas movie, and held hands. Please, all of you, take time to hold the hand of those you love and tell them how much you love them.
