Ed’s Surgery & Updates

Ed has been cleared for surgery on Nov 19th after visits to Dr. Zweig, Dr. Marakovits and Dr. Siegel.  The surgery will be done laparoscopically which requires less cutting and faster healing time.  He'll most likely be in about four days and be home in time to eat turkey and all the trimmings.

Thanksgiving will be at the apartment building where Mike and Rosanne live.  Usually we all gather at Rosemary & Greg's but with the cold weather, it's too difficult for Mike to be out and about.  There is a party room at the apartment building so it makes it much easier for everyone.

Kris has been feeling great and had another scan for good measure. her doctor agreed to do it.  It's incredible to think of how much she went through and is now cancer free and living life to the fullest.  Way to go Kris!

Jerry is waiting to hear what type of procedure will help the double vision he's been dealing with for a long time.  Many more tests need to be done before they can determine what is causing it and how to treat it.

Bruce, Jody and their families are doing okay.  With little ones there is always something going on, but mostly everyone is staying healthy.  Austin was in the ER with a headache that wouldn't go away and they have to be cautious with him since it can trigger a seizure… he is doing much better now.  Saw a video this morning of Max crawling and it's adorable.  He sort of lifts his arms way up in the air and slaps them down and then drags himself – legs trailing behind.

Shirley is doing better but still has the issue with her eye.  It's a shame that she has that to deal with as well as the fibromyalgia.  We're wondering if fibro can be a hereditary disorder since it's touched the lives of Shirley, Bruce and Jennifer.

Andrew is doing really well with no signs of any cancer.  He, Ed, Tim and Bob still get together regularly on Monday for a boys night out.  His daughter, Sofia, made everyone a bracelet with her rainbow loom and they are so cute.  Mine is butterflies and flowers and Ed's is black and gold.

Clara's son (Shirley's neighbor) remains in the hospital after his fall from the tree platform while hunting.  He's making progress but still has a long way to go.  Clara is in her 90's and we can only imagine how difficult this has been for her.

The young man, Scott, continues to battle his cancer each and every day.  They know he will never be cured but they have been able to sustain him with transfusions and medicine that allow him to enjoy some happy times.  One troubling note is – his mom's health insurance plan, that she's had for 31 years, is being dropped and she's in fear of what it will mean for Scott and his care.

Prayers for all those we love and care so much about.
