All Scans Are Good
Didn’t post about the Muga scan I had last week since I wanted to wait until we heard from Dr. Hong, today, on how Ed’s CT scan was, and it was excellent… he is cancer free. He won’t need another scan for a year and what we’ll watch for is any signs of the symptoms he had when this first started. We really needed to hear some good news and this definitely was it.
The Muga scan was also excellent with a 77% ejection fraction of my heart. A normal reading is 50-75%, so I’m doing good with my pumping action! This is a baseline reading for when I’m part way through chemo to make sure it’s not damaging my heart.
We also heard something from Dr. Hong that made us appreciate his knowledge and expertise even more. When Ed was to go through neck surgery, one of the tests showed a ‘spot’ near his neck – they thought it was a cancer and wanted Dr. Hong to start chemo. He said he wouldn’t put him through that because he had no other symptoms, so they went ahead with the surgery. The spot was determined to be psuedo gout and Dr. Hong was right, it wasn’t cancer. He didn’t mean to be funny, but he said “Ed, I’m not saying you’re not normal…. but you’re different. No one gets pseudo gout where you had it, so it was a mystery. Also the symptoms you had leading to your Hodgkins Lymphoma were not something we often see.” Ed and I were chuckling and we all know Ed is ‘different.’ He sure gives the medical profession a run for their money – but they have learned so much from this man.
Tomorrow I have a consultation for having the port implanted – I think that’s the right terminology….. Kris?
Thank you to everyone for keeping my spirits high and my attitude positive. It’s hard to think of anyone luckier than me to be surrounded by so much love.
