Black Friday

I’ve always vowed to never shop on the Friday after Thansgiving, but I did. It was such a beautiful day that we wanted to be outside enjoying it, so we went to one of the newer outdoor malls in the area. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and even though I didn’t find any bargains, it was nice to be in the sunshine. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving day, and even…

Happy Thanksgiving

This has been a tough year for so many of our family and friends. We will give thanks for the blessings we have, and for the love and support of everyone. Jan had her second chemo treatment a few days ago and, like the first treatment, is dealing with many of the side effects. In talking with her over the weekend, she remains positive and continues to hold on to her sense of humor. Jerry…

Mother’s Day

Even though the weather was rainy and cold, it was a wonderful weekend and Mother’s Day. Tim came over with an ‘elegantly’ wrapped package with H M D written on the top. He just cracks me up. It was a photo album with a beautiful butterfly on the front. I was thinking of all the pictures I could put in there, but when I opened it, there was “Your Son” typed on the first page.…

Ed in Pittsburgh

Brother Bob (Ed’s brother) was in the hospital Friday having hip replacement surgery. Ed flew to Pittsburgh to be with him, and has reported that Bob is doing ok. In a lot of pain, but that’s to be expected. He keeps pressing the morphine button. During the surgery, he was not given anesthesia due to the problems with his lungs and breathing, but he was given a spinal. Can’t imagine going through that kind of…

A Letter from Wendi’s Classmate

A few weeks ago, I received an email from a classmate of Wendi’s from the 9th grade. She said she just happened to find Wendi’s website and it brought back so many memories of her. I want to share what she wrote to me. Hello Linda, All those years ago Wendi’s kindness brought some joy to me at school. Middle school was a very rough time for me emotionally. I was among those who were…

Back to Work

After being off 3 months, I will going back to work tomorrow. The doctor said I continue to make new bone, and it’s healing just fine. Will start therapy next week to get the elbow and shoulder moving. Not looking forward to it at all, but it’s time to get back into the real world. Having a taste of retirement makes me want it even more now. Thank you to everyone for all of the…

Still Home

Sorry to not have updated the journal in a while, but it was difficult trying to type all that I wanted to with one hand. Have been wearing the stimulator every day, 10 hours a day, and at the beginning of the new year, started to notice numbness and tingling in my left leg. Didn’t connect the stimulator to the problem until a few days after it started. Wasn’t able to sleep and left it…

Doctor Visit

Looking at the x-ray today, it didn’t look any different from 2 weeks ago, but the doctor was able to see new bone growth. To the untrained eye, it looks like a few pencil dots. Looks like the bone stimulator is doing it’s job, even though he said he had doubts about it. Will continue to wear it every day, 10 hours a day for at least the next 6 weeks. The bones are still…

Another Arm Update

Latest on the arm. On Friday I was fitted with a brace, and a contraption that fits over the brace called a bone stimulator. The bone is not healing as it should, and the stimulator is supposed to help by sending electrical impulses to the area. The brace is worn continuously, and the stimulator for 10 hours a day. The CT scan was clear, no bleeding or abnormality so the dizziness and nausea was, most…

Linda’s turn

This is Ed updating the journal. On monday morning Oct. 31st I answered the phone and was suprised to hear Lindas voice when the caller I.D. said the call was from St. Francis hospital. “what happened” . She said she fell at work and broke her arm and also landed on her face and bruised her nose and forehead. I’m taking good care of her and she should be back to work in 6 to…
