Ed came home about 2:00 today and is resting in his own chair, with his own remote…. he is happy. The drainage tubes were ‘yanked’ out (Ed’s words) and what is now resting on the top of his head are two incisions about 4″ long with thick staples holding his skin together. If that isn’t bad enough, there are two holes in the front of his head with black wires sticking out. He said he…
They took Ed about 10:15 with the surgery to start around 11:15, but it got started later since he needed antibiotics. Around 1:00 the doctor called to tell us that the surgery went well and he would be in recovery for a few hours. At 4:00 he was in his room, talking to us and giving high fives, so we knew he was ok. There are drainage tubes on his head to continuously drain whatever…
So much has happened in the last few days, but I will try to catch everyone up on all that is going on. After the CT scan on Friday they did find blood in his brain (a subdural hematoma) which is blood that has collected between the skull and the lining of the brain. The bleeding is not actually in the brain, which is a good thing. After this information things got a little hectic…
Ed is having a CT scan tomorrow morning. He has been having headaches from the first day he had the shots in his belly. He called the cardiologist the next day, but was assured that the Lovenox (shots)weren’t causing the headaches. We went to our primary care physician and he didn’t seem too concerned, but set him up for the scan. Along with the headaches he is light headed and just plain not feeling well.…
Ed thinks he is ready to run the marathon now. He has been walking around the house like he is 30 years old…. well, maybe 40! He walked to get the mail, and even did what the doctor told him to do….. he iced the knee when he got home. He feels really good, and except for a few bruises and two slits in his knee, he is almost back to normal. I know we…
Ed slept until 10:00 this morning. I had to go in and check on him every 15 minutes to make sure he was ok. Guess he was wiped out from our big day yesterday. We didn’t do much except go to breakfast…. but getting in and out of the car along with the almost 100 degree day was too much. He also walked around the driveway for a little bit. He is done with the…
One day after surgery and you would never know he had anything done, except for the bandage covering his entire leg. He was ‘home alone’ for a while, until Tim came to keep him company and make sure he was doing ok. He has been able to get to the bathroom, the kitchen, and back to the sofa with very little effort. The pain medication helped him get a good night’s sleep, and it also…
Ed’s surgery was at 10:00 this morning, a little later than planned. It took about an hour, then an hour in recovery and another hour or so back in his little cubicle. He did great! He will be able to be up and around in a few days… he doesn’t need crutches, or physical therapy. They repaired the cartilage and don’t anticipate any problems. It is after 6:00 now and he is getting his first…
On Wednesday, August 10th, Ed will be having knee surgery. A little nipping and tucking and he will be good as new. I plan on keeping everyone updated with journal entries. The pain in his knee continued to get worse, so he finally gave in and went to see the doctor. He hobbled in with his x-rays and Dr. Organ (yes, that’s his name) looked at them, then looked at his knee and said “this…
