All Scans Are Good

Didn’t post about the Muga scan I had last week since I wanted to wait until we heard from Dr. Hong, today, on how Ed’s CT scan was, and it was excellent… he is cancer free.  He won’t need another scan for a year and what we’ll watch for is any signs of the symptoms he had when this first started.  We really needed to hear some good news and this definitely was it. The…

Ladies Weekend

Every year, for the last 43 years, Ed’s sisters, family and friends get together for a ladies weekend.  I made it one year and that was it for me…. I couldn’t keep up.  They are so full of energy and fun and know how to have a good time……  as you will see when you click on the link below to watch the video they made in honor of me and all others who have…

Date For Surgery

I’ll be having the mastectomy on September 28th – the earliest I could get since she’s booked next week and is on vacation the following week.  All will work out, we just have to trust in the timing and continue to pray. Dr. Hong’s plan is to start chemo 3-4 weeks after the surgery every two weeks for 4 months.  The first two months will be a combination of two drugs, and the remaining drug…

Great News!

The CT scan is clear and I can’t tell you what a relief that is. Now on to see Dr. Hong on Tuesday and he will advise whether I need chemo prior to the surgery.  We don’t expect that to be the case, so the next step is to get the mastectomy done as soon as possible. Once again we have proof of the power of prayer and I thank all of you for keeping…

Scans

I was lucky to be able to have both scans done today.  The bone scan took twenty minutes and the CT scan took only five minutes.  Even though it didn’t take long for the actual scans, the waiting for the prep and injections to take effect took a lot longer.  In total it was about 4 hours, but I’m not complaining, just happy they are done.  After the MRI fiasco I wasn’t taking any chances….…

Scan Dates Set

So lucky to be able to get the bone scan this week, as well as the CT scan. The doctor thought it may take up to two weeks for the bone scan, but there was a cancellation and they slid me right in. Thursday (20th) is the bone scan and Friday (21st) is the CT scan – both are at 11:00. Then I'll see Dr. Gates on the 26th for the results.

Pathology Report

Received news about the pathology report on Thursday and today we went to see the surgeon, Dr. Gates, for a more detailed explanation. The tumor was first thought to be small at 1.9cm but it actually was 5.2cm. The margins outside the tumor contained cancer cells as well as the one lymph node that was removed. As with all cancers they are categorized in Stages from I to IV and this is a Stage IIIA,…

It’s Me!

Tim did such a great job with the journal keeping everyone updated and I am very proud of him. It’s a rough go for those waiting around for news, so having him post every step of my morning helped everyone. I know this from the many emails I received telling me what a wonderful job he did. I’m doing okay and waiting for the time when I feel strong once again. For now, I’m taking…

…and home

She is finally home and settled in and taking a much needed rest. I am on “get some drugs” duty and hopefully I’ll be able to turn the journal back over to her. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes, it kept her going strong and made it possible to be quickly back in the comfort of her home. Tim
