Ed will finish up treatment #5 today and be home by this evening. He has done so well with each and every one and continues to amaze us all. Other than the fatigue, which he feels a little more with each round, he has had no nausea or any other side effects. It will be a great day when we hear that he is cancer free!
Friday was a good day and Ed is feeling and looking much better. The blood counts were up from the day before and remained stable which was an indication that the bleeding stopped. According to the doctor, he was very lucky considering how long he waited before telling anyone about the bleeding. With the platelets so low, he could have been in serious trouble. He is weak but only because of not being up and…
Ed Ed saw Dr. Siegel today and is scheduled for treatment #5 on Feb 19th. I asked once again about the blood clot and he assured us that it’s nothing to worry about since he is on blood thinner and it’s been there for quite a long time. So, we will forget about that and concentrate on the last two treatments. He was given a free pass to roam outside of the condo, but still…
Doctor Visit Ed had a great visit with Dr. Siegel today and things are moving forward. He commented on how good Ed looked and he is pleased with his tolerance of the drugs. Monday, the 28th, he will go back to start treatment number 4 and he will have the CT scan then. Dan & Mario Dan called the other day to check up on Ed and to tell him there was a package coming…
Ed starting chemo treatment #3 with one of the very special nurses here – Christine.
Haven’t heard Ed laugh in quite a while so it was nice to hear laughter coming from the room when he opened this email from Greg. Greg is the husband of Rosemary (Kim’s cousin). Thanks Greg!
They had her scheduled for surgery to remove the appendix but when Dr. Zweig came in he didn't feel that it was needed. He is an incredible doctor and he wanted to talk to the surgeon first, before they went ahead with surgery. We waited about an hour and found out they canceled the surgery and she will be coming home with antibiotics and pain meds. When Kim was telling Dr. Zweig about the pain…
Every day we tucked at the little hairs on his head and they were always held firmly in place….. until yesterday. He noticed he could pull clumps out with his fingers so we decided to do the baldy bean shave. Even his mustache hairs were falling out and laying neatly on his shirt – so that went, too. He feels good and is looking forward to sitting in his chair and watching all the football games….…
Ed saw Dr. Underhill today – the surgeon who did the biopsy – and he said that everyone was very surprised by the pathology report. No one expected it to be cancer, except Dr. Zweig who stood by his original diagnosis and we can’t wait to see him on the 5th. Dr. Underhill says that he credits Dr. Siegel with moving forward with the biopsy even though none of them felt Ed would be their…
