Our Eddie

Ed took the last of his new med yesterday and now we wait to see what happens.  Of course, we feel the fever/chill episode will return but we don't know when.   Talked to the nurse at Zweig's office yesterday and she said he is at the end of his rope and doesn't know what else he can do.  I asked what the purpose of the anti-inflammatory pill was for and she said it is…

Update on Ed

Since taking the newest medication- indocin – Ed has not had any high fevers or chills but still has no energy and says he just doesn’t feel right.  I find him napping a few times a day and that is his biggest complaint.  Wednesday will be the end of taking the medicine and we’ll call the doctor then to see what our next steps are.

Update on Ed & Waiting for Andrew’s Results

Ed is back to having the fever and chills.  He had 101.4 this morning and after talking to the nurse at the doctor's office they called in a prescription for indocine.  It's an anti-inflammatory drug and also helps with the fever – he's to take it for a week and will stay in touch with the doctor.   I know all of us are anxious to hear about Andrew's scan and I will post in…

Starting Again?

Ed’s temperature is slowly creeping up again and we are waiting for the rest of the symptoms to appear.  So far he is feeling okay except for being tired – no stomach or back pain, chills or night sweats.   The doctor said to use Tylenol to control the fever and that’s what he’ll do until the doctor returns from his vacation.  We’ll wait to see what tomorrow brings!

The Mystery Continues

The results from the blood test that went to the Mayo Clinic are back and they are negative.   Our doctor is on vacation next week so we won't be doing anything until he returns.  We will check his temperature every day and if it does the same as before, the doctor said to treat it with Tylenol and he will continue to dig until he figures it out.  Have no idea what his next…

Life Goes O

For a month we’ve all believed that Ed had cancer and was facing months of treatments.  To go from thinking that, to hearing the words ‘there is no cancer’ can only be described as a miracle. We have so many to thank for getting us to where we are today and it’s impossible to name each of you individually.  We’ve felt the love from our family and friends here in CT and from hundreds of…

Great News

Ed had the scan this morning and by the time we got home the doctor’s office called to say they had the results and he wanted to talk to us.  They also said it was good news – we had no idea what that meant. The PET scan showed the lymph nodes were back to normal again – and there was absolutely no sign of cancer anywhere.  Dr. Zweig just kept shaking his head and…

Ed’s Scan

We still don’t have a firm diagnosis, but the doctor’s suspicion has always been that it’s lymphoma.  The scan showed swollen lymph nodes again in his stomach and chest so they will do a PET scan on Tuesday to determine where they are and which ones they will biopsy. The tricky part for Ed is that he has to come off the blood thinner for them to do that procedure and now we learn he…

Ed

Ed was doing so well for quite a while and even though we were hesitant to talk about it – we thought the last two episodes were over and done with.  Friday the fever slowly started to climb and by Sunday he was back up to 101.5+.  Called the doctor this morning and instead of doing the CT scan on Wednesday, he scheduled it for tomorrow.  Hopefully we will know more once the results are…

Update

Ed had an appointment today with his doctor and Tim suggested he wear a shirt with a big question mark on it.  So that’s what we did!  Dr. Zweig got a big laugh out of it and said, “That is so apropos.” He will be getting another round of blood tests and a CT scan in two weeks.  He said he’s never seen lymph nodes shrink like that and when he first saw the scan…
