Ed slept until 8:30 am without taking any sleeping or pain pill and felt good. He even wanted to go for breakfast at our favorite place on Stafford Avenue. The owner always comes to our table to talk to us and wondered where we had been. He couldn’t believe all that had happened and offered advice on what he thought we should do. Everyone tries to help. After we got home yesterday a package arrived…
Where do I begin?? First, Ed is home and he has already kissed his recliner, the remote and the computer. His blood level still wasn’t where they wanted it to be but the doctor felt he can handle adjusting it at home. There still are no answers and Dr. Zweig (our pc dr) saw him this morning and does not feel there is a need to see an oncologist. Without the biopsy or any other…
They will be keeping Ed another day to get his blood level back to where it needs to be. When the doctor told him yesterday that he would be going home – I was very upset but didn’t want to ask questions with Ed there. Came home and called the doctor’s office and was able to talk to him for a while. I told him my concern was Ed would come home and the…
They took Ed for the biopsy at 11:00 and within an hour was back with a big smile on his face. While doing the scan to see where they wanted to do the biopsy, they found that his lymph nodes shrunk. What all of this means we’re not absolutely sure and we’ll need to wait until the doctor talks to the radiologist and gives us more information. It does sound more positive than it did…
Ed had a scare this morning when he thought he was having a heart attack. He had pain in his left arm and across his chest. After doing an EKG and wearing a monitor they determined that his heart was fine and the pain was coming from his back, traveling up his arm and across his chest. The fever is gone and the temps have been normal since yesterday. He thinks whenever the back acts…
Ed was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after having more episodes of fever and chills. They immediately did more blood tests, x-rays and other tests to once again try and figure out the source of the infection. After doing a CT scan on Thursday they found that he has swollen lymph nodes in his stomach. It appears this has been the cause of all of his problems and even the back pain he has…
Yesterday was a sleepy day for him. Just like a baby – feed him, burp him and he takes a nap. He had a restful night and was up early this morning looking much better. He feels up to taking a little walk around the complex so we will see how that goes. No fever and we have a fabulous way of checking that now. Tim ordered a thermometer like the one in the…
Ed is home, in his chair, remote in hand, TV on…. it doesn't get any better than that. After 6 days in the hospital and many tests, they were not able to figure out what kind of infection he had. Whatever combo of antibiotics they gave him finally did knock it down and we hope that's the end of it. He had no problems before, during or after the test this morning and was anxious…
I’m feeling much better today and this picture proves it. Coffee…. coffee…… coffee. I finally felt like drinking some this morning. Thanks for the prayers, comments in the journal and the phone calls. And… thanks to Andrew for stopping by this morning – it was good to see you buddy! Linda will tell you what the doctor said. The x-ray was clear, so there is no pneumonia but what he did say was the pressure…
We thought we were out of the woods with the fever, but it was back up to 101 this afternoon. Even with the fever, he still looked so much better than yesterday. He was laughing, joking, eating and getting up to go to the bathroom by himself. They did a chest x-ray this afternoon because he has had on/off bouts of shortness of breath. All of us that know and love Ed know…… he is…
