It was a smooth as silk last treatment and I promise to write more tomorrow after the drugs have worn off. Gotta love drugs but they do keep you from doing normal things…. like forming and typing words. See you tomorrow and thanks to everyone in helping me get to this wonderful day, Love you all Linda
No emergencies this time! No fire alarm, no allergic reations just a nice, calm and peaceful day. All of the pre-meds the night before and the meds given today worked to keep any reaction from happening and I’m grateful. The only problem was, I slept through most of it and wasn’t good company for those who were with me. Ed and Kim kept each other busy while I snoozed away…. for me the time went…
Another emergency situation at chemo #6, but… this time, it wasn't me! The fire alarm went off and the door closed leaving Ed, Tim, me and another patient sitting in the room. No one told us what to do or where to go so we just waited. We couldn't hear people talking or smell smoke but we did hear the fire trucks. A while later the nurse came in and said it was in the…
Tuesday chemo #5 a new drug Taxol, and I was a little apprehensive. They pump you up with a lot of different drugs before starting the Taxol to help you tolerate it. Sheila, my nurse, stayed with me after she started the pump and it was flowing for 5 minutes or so, when the allergic reaction started to happen. The feeling was much the same as the reaction I had to Emend, but I didn't…
Today was another breeze as far as everything went well and I was home in 3 hours. No unexpected happenings, so we can chalk off the first four treatments as done and move on to the last four. Since the last two treatments were only at 50% strength, even though I knew the answer, I asked if it was protecting me. She said it was better than not getting any treatments, or holding off treatments…
Feeling so good for many reasons. Not only did the treatment go smoothly today, but I had a terrific week. My eyes were open every minute of the day and I was able to do some things around the condo. Never thought I was ever going to feel good again. Still not at top notch speed, but I can't expect to be after all that went on. Today was the first time a doctor said…
Another week before getting chemo #3. The blood counts were slightly higher, but still in the low range, and I don't feel as if I'm making much progress in feeling better. Getting chemo this week would drop all my counts lower again and it was up to me if I wanted to wait. Ed and Tim agreed it was a good idea to let my body recoup another week and see how I do. Saturday…
Chemo# 3 didn't happen. With my blood counts still low, Dr. Hong suggested I take another week to let my body rest. I was two thumbs up for that! Even after getting my last treatment 25% weaker, it didn't make a difference in the fatigue I had every day. If blood work is okay on Monday, we'll go ahead with the chemo which Dr. Hong is going to reduce another 25%. I joked that soon…
Two weeks ago, Chemo #1 went well and for two days I felt great and thought this was just too easy…. then reality hit and I was down and out for the count. It took seven days of fatigue before I was able to get up and do anything at all. That’s why there was no update in the journal and it was difficult to send emails to let folks know I was ok. Never…
Had a blood test, saw Dr. Hong and was cleared to start chemo. Three hours later, I'm home and feeling okay. My nurse was Kathy, who I remembered from Ed going through all his treatments. She explained everything as she was doing it and let me know what to expect in the days and weeks to come. Tomorrow I get the shot to boost my white cell count and then have two weeks to rest…
