After drugs, rest and very little moving around, the port site is finally starting to settle down. It still looks a bit angry at the incision but I've been assured by everyone that it will be better. Getting ready Monday and Tuesday morning for appointments was a challenge, but we did it. Ed has been a great help and I think he's soon ready for vacation, as is Tim and Kim. Don't know what I'd…
A quick post to let everyone know I'm doing better today. After three days of only discomfort with the port site, I ended up going to the ER in an ambulance on Friday. Any slight movement caused a sharp stabbing pain that wouldn't subside and Ed finally convinced me I needed to go. With no specific diagnosis, it was determined there is probably a blood blister near the port 'button' that gets aggravated when I…
On Tuesday had the port inserted and it's been more of a discomfort than the mastectomy procedure. First, I think they gave me too much dope and I was out for two days Then, I think they had to sit on my chest to put in the port because my ribs are really sore. Had a temperature off and on but after Ed's calls to the center, they assured him Tylenol will help and not…
Every day brings me closer to feeling stronger and getting ready for the chemo. As I’ve been told, I can’t expect to feel the same level of energy that I’m used to….. boy, is that the truth. Most of the time my body wants to be in a resting position and watching TV. I’m grateful for not having one bit of pain so, for now, I’ll take it easy and get ready for the fight.…
Hello everyone! I’m back and feeling really good. Truly thought I would be bedridden for a few days, but I feel like I’m ready to mop a floor or two! Haven’t needed any pain meds, but the Oxy’s are handy if I need them. The pathology report said they removed more tumor which was part of the original one. The margins were clear this time. Out of the eleven lymph nodes removed, only two showed…
Good morning everyone. Got word this morning that Linda will be leaving the hospital and returning home early this afternoon. She will soon be resting in her own bed. I read all the journal comments to her yesterday which made her smile, thank you all for your comments and well wishes.
This is Ed with my first post ever in this journal. Just got the call from the Dr that surgery went well and are waiting to see her in recovery.
Linda went into surgery around 11:30am. It’s expected to be about 3 hours then another 2 hours in recovery before being moved to a room. She will be staying overnight so they can monitor her.
My surgery is scheduled for 10:45 on Monday morning, the 28th. Since this is approximately a three hour surgery, I’m assuming I’ll stay overnight. It will be a long day and knowing I’m in good hands during the night will allow everyone to sleep well. Once again I’m overwhelmed by the continuous flow of love, support and prayers I’ve received. It often times takes my breath away in how family and friends have reached out…
