So lucky to be able to get the bone scan this week, as well as the CT scan. The doctor thought it may take up to two weeks for the bone scan, but there was a cancellation and they slid me right in. Thursday (20th) is the bone scan and Friday (21st) is the CT scan – both are at 11:00. Then I'll see Dr. Gates on the 26th for the results.
Received news about the pathology report on Thursday and today we went to see the surgeon, Dr. Gates, for a more detailed explanation. The tumor was first thought to be small at 1.9cm but it actually was 5.2cm. The margins outside the tumor contained cancer cells as well as the one lymph node that was removed. As with all cancers they are categorized in Stages from I to IV and this is a Stage IIIA,…
Tim did such a great job with the journal keeping everyone updated and I am very proud of him. It’s a rough go for those waiting around for news, so having him post every step of my morning helped everyone. I know this from the many emails I received telling me what a wonderful job he did. I’m doing okay and waiting for the time when I feel strong once again. For now, I’m taking…
She is finally home and settled in and taking a much needed rest. I am on “get some drugs” duty and hopefully I’ll be able to turn the journal back over to her. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes, it kept her going strong and made it possible to be quickly back in the comfort of her home. Tim
Linda is feeling great and is getting dressed ready to be discharged. Can you believe it? I will be bringing the car around to pick her up and take her home. Tim
Sometimes you can wait hours for things to happen and sometimes things move very fast. Just talked with Dr. Gates (11:23am) and she said everything went really well and that Linda will be waking up soon. Ed and I are still in the waiting area and hope to see her in recovery around noon. Tim
This is Tim… It’s been a long time since I posted in the journal. We arrived at the hospital around 5:30am and sat and talked for hours. She is in high spirits and is doing well. After getting into her hospital gown, we watched the sunrise right outside our window, it was a beautiful thing to see. Linda just finished up with pre-op and went into surgery around 10am. The surgery is expected to take…
Even though the surgery is scheduled for 9am, the pre-op paperwork and prep takes forever, so we will be at the hospital at 5:45 for all of that. The weekend will be filled with watching movies and relaxing. Of course I wouldn’t miss my Saturday outing with Tim. We spent 5 days with the sisters and had a great time. It really did help to take my mind off of what was ahead. Besides, eating,…
Monday, August 10th is the date for my surgery. They don't assign a time but call you the night before to let you know when to be there. I'm relieved to be able to check that off the list and move forward. Next step is to get an appointment with my PC for the pre-surgery physical. Saw my oncologist, Dr. Hong, today (Ed's oncologist, too) and he went over pretty much everything my surgeon told me.…
A little disappointed I came away from my appointment today without a date for surgery. The reason is the woman who schedules the surgeries was off today and my surgeon is off all next week. So, another waiting game. She will call Monday and I'm giving her until 2pm and then I'm calling her!
