Ed's had a few meals of solid food and is tolerating all of it just fine and waiting for the exit of it – but nothing yet. They may move him from this room since he doesn't need to be monitored as closely as before. He's feeling okay and even took a few spins around the hall and sat in the family room for a while. They've been hesitant to start him on blood thinner…
They found a blood vessel in the colon that was bleeding and the doctor clamped it off. Also had a bowel movement already that was almost 100% clear. He is amazing! They found a polyp that will need to be removed — it's pre-cancerous so he doesn't want him to wait too long for the colonoscopy. He is sitting in bed and waiting for the word that he can have FOOD! Thank you, everyone, for…
Monday was a little better day after many blood and platelet transfusions. They need to get him stabilized before trying to do any type of test and today his counts were moving upward. After a CT scan this morning they feel the bleeding is coming from his colon. The surgeon talked to him and said they are hoping the bleeding will stop on its own after the transfusions and that is exactly what happened the…
In a few weeks we will get the magnifying glass and look for traces of hair on Ed’s head and lip. We’re anxious to see what growth will appear and it will probably look strange since we’re used to seeing him bald. He’s felt so good and just wants to get his strength back and enjoy the warm weather that they promise is right around the corner. We did make it to Tim & Kim’s…
Protected By Angels is the medal that the staff at the cancer center gave Ed yesterday, as well as a 'Congrats' cake. It was a very emotional time as many nurses and the hospital chaplain came into the room cheering and clapping. They all wished Ed well and celebrated it being his last treatment. The chaplain had us hold hands and offered a very moving and beautiful prayer. We all know the power of prayer…
Ed will finish up treatment #5 today and be home by this evening. He has done so well with each and every one and continues to amaze us all. Other than the fatigue, which he feels a little more with each round, he has had no nausea or any other side effects. It will be a great day when we hear that he is cancer free!
Friday was a good day and Ed is feeling and looking much better. The blood counts were up from the day before and remained stable which was an indication that the bleeding stopped. According to the doctor, he was very lucky considering how long he waited before telling anyone about the bleeding. With the platelets so low, he could have been in serious trouble. He is weak but only because of not being up and…
Ed Ed saw Dr. Siegel today and is scheduled for treatment #5 on Feb 19th. I asked once again about the blood clot and he assured us that it’s nothing to worry about since he is on blood thinner and it’s been there for quite a long time. So, we will forget about that and concentrate on the last two treatments. He was given a free pass to roam outside of the condo, but still…
Doctor Visit Ed had a great visit with Dr. Siegel today and things are moving forward. He commented on how good Ed looked and he is pleased with his tolerance of the drugs. Monday, the 28th, he will go back to start treatment number 4 and he will have the CT scan then. Dan & Mario Dan called the other day to check up on Ed and to tell him there was a package coming…
Ed starting chemo treatment #3 with one of the very special nurses here – Christine.
