Ed and Mike

Ed had a scare this morning when he thought he was having a heart attack.  He had pain in his left arm and across his chest.  After doing an EKG and wearing a monitor they determined that his heart was fine and the pain was coming from his back, traveling up his arm and across his chest. The fever is gone and the temps have been normal since yesterday.  He thinks whenever the back acts…

Prayers for Ed

Ed was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after having more episodes of fever and chills. They immediately did more blood tests, x-rays and other tests to once again try and figure out the source of the infection. After doing a CT scan on Thursday they found that he has swollen lymph nodes in his stomach. It appears this has been the cause of all of his problems and even the back pain he has…

One More Ed Update

Yesterday was a sleepy day for him.  Just like a baby –  feed him, burp him and he takes a nap. He had a restful night and was up early this morning looking much better.  He feels up to taking a little walk around the complex so we will see how that goes.   No fever and we have a fabulous way of checking that now.  Tim ordered a thermometer like the one in the…

Home

Ed is home, in his chair, remote in hand, TV on…. it doesn't get any better than that. After 6 days in the hospital and many tests, they were not able to figure out what kind of infection he had.  Whatever combo of antibiotics they gave him finally did knock it down and we hope that's the end of it.  He had no problems before, during or after the test this morning and was anxious…

Hello Everyone – From Ed

I’m feeling much better today and this picture proves it. Coffee…. coffee…… coffee. I finally felt like drinking some this morning. Thanks for the prayers, comments in the journal and the phone calls. And… thanks to Andrew for stopping by this morning – it was good to see you buddy! Linda will tell you what the doctor said. The x-ray was clear, so there is no pneumonia but what he did say was the pressure…

Saturday Evening – Ed

We thought we were out of the woods with the fever, but it was back up to 101 this afternoon.  Even with the fever, he still looked so much better than yesterday.  He was laughing, joking, eating and getting up to go to the bathroom by himself.  They did a chest x-ray this afternoon because he has had on/off bouts of shortness of breath.  All of us that know and love Ed know…… he is…

Ed’s Friday

They can't seem to get the fever to come down… it fluctuates between 101 & 102.  He started getting antibiotics last night and throughout the day today but whatever 'bug' is in there is a tough one.  He is also dealing with his back, which Dr. Ed thinks is a muscle and nothing to do with his kidneys.   Kim went to the hospital this morning to do some Reiki on him and he did…

Andrew

Andrew will be going into the hospital tonight (Wednesday) to start his third round of chemo. We plan on visiting with him tomorrow and will have updates and, hopefully, a picture or two. In sending directions on where he is in the hospital, he wrote – Room 15, 2nd floor conklin building hartford hospital…look for the margarita stand out front! Gotta love him! He also wrote – So far so good, my Dr feels its…

Bruce’s 60th Birthday

My brother’s 60th birthday It’s a long story about the wax lips and the 60 hat. When Bruce and I were young we celebrated our birthdays together since they were only 3 days apart. When he was six, we have a movie of him wearing the number ‘6 hat’ I made him and those red wax lips. He was acting so silly on that movie and that’s when I started calling him lips. Many, many…

Mike & Rosanne

Kim’s dad, Mike, is doing really well and has adjusted to wearing the oxygen when it is needed. At the beginning he felt he didn’t need it at all, but the doctor convinced him to wear it when he is out and about. Keep up the good work Mike.
