Latest on the arm. On Friday I was fitted with a brace, and a contraption that fits over the brace called a bone stimulator. The bone is not healing as it should, and the stimulator is supposed to help by sending electrical impulses to the area. The brace is worn continuously, and the stimulator for 10 hours a day. The CT scan was clear, no bleeding or abnormality so the dizziness and nausea was, most…
This is Ed updating the journal. On monday morning Oct. 31st I answered the phone and was suprised to hear Lindas voice when the caller I.D. said the call was from St. Francis hospital. “what happened” . She said she fell at work and broke her arm and also landed on her face and bruised her nose and forehead. I’m taking good care of her and she should be back to work in 6 to…
Dr. Lantner called Ed this afternoon to tell him that the CT scan looked better than the last one. Evidence that the body is absorbing the blood that was still there. That was welcome news, especially after Ed was having a few headaches. He said they were nothing major, just twinges, but even a twinge can be cause for concern. I think he is feeling better after hearing that the scan looked good. Kim is…
Yesterday was another followup with Dr. Lantner. He is the neurosurgeon that performed the operation. He is definitely a different person when he is out of the hospital. He sat and asked Ed how he was doing…. then listened, and answered, every question. Prior to the surgery, when Ed was in the hospital, it was difficult to ask him anything. He was always halfway out the door while we were talking to him. Ed will…
After the last doctor visit, it has been quiet at home. We haven’t talked about what the next steps are…. we have let it rest for a while. Ed did make the comment that he doesn’t want to see any more doctors. It seems like they are concerned about themselves and not about him. It does make sense to get a new cardiologist and family physician since they are the two that we have lost…
Our visit with Dr. Aferzon didn’t clear anything up, it just added to our confusion. We walked in with all the CT scans and was hoping to hear something positive. First we met with Bob, (PA-Patient Assistant). He was the one that was called to review the first scan Ed had, and told him he was ok to go home, and to make an appointment with them in 5 days. He kept repeating that after…
Ed is 62 years old today, and has said many times that he has been given extra years on earth. For all that he has been through, it is a miracle that he is still here. This is day number five on the Coumadin (blood thinner) and so far so good. The hard part is not knowing what will happen, or when it will happen. All we can hope for is that the Coumadin, that…
Wasn’t able to get into the computer yesterday for an update, but it was a good day for Ed. Now that he knows the headache is not something he needs to worry about, he felt like getting out. Since we missed Wendi’s birthday on the 3rd, he wanted to visit the cemetery, so we went there, and then a short trip to the mall. Later in the day we went to dinner at Tim &…
Ed was feeling really good today. He had our neighbor, Phil, drive him to the drugstore to drop off his prescription. Then when they came back, they walked to get the mail. He said he is getting his strength back, but was concerned about a ‘tiny’ headache that he has, and the weakness on his left side. Went to St. Francis for the CT scan. He told them about the headache and weakness and was…
Removing the staples wasn’t as bad as he thought it would be, but it still hurt a little. When the nurse walked out and came back saying she needed to get a bigger pair of pliers…. he almost caved in. It looks so much better, but I sort of miss the sun glistening off his head. He asked about the weakness in his left side, and there was a slight nod of the doctor’s head…
