Almost One Week Done

Friday will be mark one week complete and everything is going well.  I’ve not noticed any difference in how I feel or how my skin looks after being zapped. I have to share a very special count-down calendar that I received today from my BFF, Risa.  She’s been my dear friend since my first day of work in CT.  We have a strong ‘sister’ connection that exists even from hundreds of miles away. MY VERY…

Done With One!

My first radiation treatment went well and other than having to stay in one position for 25-30 minutes, it was a piece of cake.  I knew they were doing x-rays first but I didn't know they were also doing the radiation.  I kept asking if I was done since it seemed like an awful lot of x-raying going on.  She came in the room and helped me off the table and said I could get…

Port Removal – Radiation Begins

Back to posting in the journal after taking a few weeks off to focus on getting stronger.  Looking back on how many months this has been is overwhelming and, sometimes, hard to believe.  I still have a ways to go with radiation but, I feel the worst part is over. Never realized how important eyelashes are for many reasons…. one, they keep tiny flecks of everything from falling into your eyes and…. two, they help…

Ringing The Bell

Tuesday was my very last treatment and everything went well once again.  It seemed like that day would never get here but with the love I felt from everyone, I made it! Tim took a video of me ringing the bell and reading the verse my sister, Shirley, sent to me.  The bell is from the movie The Polar Express that reminds us all that we should always believe. Since I was blubbering a little,…

Final – Chemo #8

It was a smooth as silk last treatment and I promise to write more tomorrow after the drugs have worn off.  Gotta love drugs but they do keep you from doing normal things…. like forming and typing words. See you tomorrow and thanks to everyone in helping me get to this wonderful day, Love you all Linda

Chemo #7

No emergencies this time!  No fire alarm, no allergic reations just a nice, calm and peaceful day.  All of the pre-meds the night before and the meds given today worked to keep any reaction from happening and I’m grateful.  The only problem was, I slept through most of it and wasn’t good company for those who were with me. Ed and Kim kept each other busy while I snoozed away…. for me the time went…

Chemo #6

Another emergency situation at chemo #6, but… this time, it wasn't me!  The fire alarm went off and the door closed leaving Ed, Tim, me and another patient sitting in the room.  No one told us what to do or where to go so we just waited.  We couldn't hear people talking or smell smoke but we did hear the fire trucks. A while later the nurse came in and said it was in the…

Chemo #5

Tuesday chemo #5 a new drug Taxol, and I was a little apprehensive.  They pump you up with a lot of different drugs before starting the Taxol to help you tolerate it.  Sheila, my nurse, stayed with me after she started the pump and it was flowing for 5 minutes or so, when the allergic reaction started to happen.  The feeling was much the same as the reaction I had to Emend, but I didn't…

Chemo #4 – Half Way There

Today was another breeze as far as everything went well and I was home in 3 hours.  No unexpected happenings, so we can chalk off the first four treatments as done and move on to the last four.  Since the last two treatments were only at 50% strength, even though I knew the answer, I asked if it was protecting me.  She said it was better than not getting any treatments, or holding off treatments…

Chemo #3 – DONE

Feeling so good for many reasons. Not only did the treatment go smoothly today, but I had a terrific week. My eyes were open every minute of the day and I was able to do some things around the condo. Never thought I was ever going to feel good again. Still not at top notch speed, but I can't expect to be after all that went on. Today was the first time a doctor said…
