A Pig and A Bowl

Kim and I took a trip to a local ceramic shop with expectations of creating the most awesome piggy bank and yarn bowl. Kim wanted to paint her piggy bank featuring Mickey Mouse to save for their next Disney vacation. I spied a yarn bowl that is unique, in that it holds a ball of yarn to make it easier as you knit or crochet.

My grandiose idea was to make a rainbow swirling around the bowl. We laughed, we painted, we sighed, we moaned…. this wasn’t as easy as we thought. Mickey’s ears wouldn’t cooperate and my rainbow was taking forever to swirl. Funny how we both ended up making circles all around our piece and called it a day.

It will take a week before we can pick up the finished pieces and, no matter what, they will be beautiful. What a wonderful way to spend the day with the most precious daughter-in-love and to top it off….. we met Tim for dinner.

  1. It really was a blast Linda! When looking at the polkadot pig, I sometimes get hypnotized with the force coming out of that third eye! LOL
The time spent was fun along with being a major learning curve. Think my bank needs some bedazzling or Disney stickers. I’ll show you the PPB (polkadot pig bank) 2.0 later on this season.

    1. For sure polkadot pig needs some bedazzling AND Disney stickers. We did have fun and being first-timers, I think we did a great job. Still have to laugh how we both gave up on our magnificent painting ideas and just made circles. They are the cutest circles though. I’ll have to see if my yarn bowl has a third eye!

      1. Y E S it was very funny how we looked at one another after an hour and realized free form artistry is NOT in our blood. Ha ha ha! – I do look forward to sitting across from you again, not hitting/shaking the table and bringing home another piece of pottery! xoxo

        1. We sure could have used stencils, patterns, or something to help us out but we still did an incredible job and our pieces are keepsakes and reminders of our time together. Next time we’ll opt for a less ‘bumpy’ table and find one for two or three.
