Latest Update On Ed

The doctor stopped by tonight and said everything went as planned and he removed exactly what he said he would – the 8″ of colon. Other than being a little dopey with some minor discomfort, he seems to be doing just fine.  It will take a few days before we get the results of the biopsy. He continues to amaze all of us with his ability to go through some tough times. He was flying…

Surgery Went Well

Ed was in surgery at 8:30 and done by 10 and doctor said everything went well.  It took until 3 to get him in a room.  He's been sleeping most of the time with the help of pain meds but when he's awake he says his belly hurts. Will update more after we hear from the doctor.

Ed’s Surgery and Prayers

Ed's surgery is Tuesday, the 19th and is expected to start around 8:30am.  He's already in the process of guzzling the poop medicine and running to the bathroom, but he's doing okay.  Just want to get this part over with so he can get back on his feet, again, and enjoy the holidays. Prayers for Ed, Shirley, Bill and Mike – we know how powerful the prayers are.

Ed’s Surgery & Updates

Ed has been cleared for surgery on Nov 19th after visits to Dr. Zweig, Dr. Marakovits and Dr. Siegel.  The surgery will be done laparoscopically which requires less cutting and faster healing time.  He'll most likely be in about four days and be home in time to eat turkey and all the trimmings. Thanksgiving will be at the apartment building where Mike and Rosanne live.  Usually we all gather at Rosemary & Greg's but with…

Latest Update on Ed

Today, we saw Dr. Vignati the colorectal surgeon and we liked him a lot.  He spent a good deal of time with us and even showed us a picture of the polyp in Ed's colon…. yuk!  Since it's in a spot near the intestines he will take about 8" of colon which will not require anything more after surgery than rest and relaxation – which I'm sure Ed can handle.  He'll be in the hospital…

Ed’s 70th Birthday In Bost

From the time we arrived until we left, the Marriott treated us like royalty. We were in a beautiful huge room overlooking the water. Later in the day we took the sunset cruise and were treated to a nightly event where they lower the flag and fire the cannon on the USS Constitution. His 70th Birthday – he made it.  Took a little persuading but I got him to wear the blinking birthday necklace and the pin…

Update on Ed

The procedure went well and he was back in recovery within 45 minutes.  The doctor said he found a total of 6 polyps – 5 he removed and clamped off so they wouldn't bleed but the one polyp was rather large.  It's 4cm at the end of the colon and would need to be removed but it wasn't something that could be done at that time.  There are two options – one is to have…

Ed’s Procedure

Ed will have a colonoscopy on Monday morning.  They will remove a polyp they found when they were searching for the source of his bleeding a few months ago.  The doctor also plans on doing a thorough examination of his colon which he wasn't able to do before.   No matter what type of surgery, treatment or test Ed has, it's always a little trickier with him. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers that…

Ed’s Checkup

The three month visit today with Dr. Siegel was a positive one.  His blood work numbers came back with every asterisk inside the column – which means all the blood counts were in the normal range.   An asterisk to the left of the column is too low and an asterisk to the right of the column is too high…. his were all inside!  The bone marrow is working and doing its job once again.…

Andrew & Pictures

We all celebrate in the great news from Andrew’s last scan and blood test – all is well.  The scan is clear and the blood work is normal.  It’s always a hold your breath time waiting for those results, so we’re all very happy to hear that everything is okay and life is good.  Congratulations Andrew! We had our neighborhood get together on Saturday and had such a fun time.  It’s only for those that…
