Happy Holidays

Tim took the picture of us on Christmas Eve. We had a nice evening with Tim and Kim, and enjoyed being together. It’s fun watching them open gifts, and of course they spoil us. Kim made the most elegant menu that was our invitation to dinner at their house. The paper she typed it on is so pretty that it looks like something from a NY restaurant. She gave us so many choices, that it…

Rhode Island Trip

Newport, RI was nice, but it was too cold and windy to do a lot of walking around. Ate lunch at the Brick Ally Pub which was packed to the walls with people. The food was excellent and the french fries were the best we’ve ever tasted (even minus the salt). Sunday we went on a tour of the Breakers Mansion in Newport. It was built in 1892-1894 by the Vanderbilts. It has 70 rooms,…

Open House & Ed

I’ve been helping Tim and Kim with their Open House. They decided to make it a 3 day event since there were so many they wanted to invite, and they wanted to be able to visit with everyone. The folks from their neighborhood were invited Friday night…. and it was a wonderful success. Saturday afternoon was just as grand with visits from friends and neighbors of Kim and her family. Today is our day –…

Achy Breaky Heart

Ed feel asleep on his side sometime during the night and woke up to a very painful chest. It was hard for him to roll over on his back, and once he did – he said he could feel his chest bone ‘settling’. Yuk! He looked a little tired when I came home from work, but he did a lot of walking again. Not sure if he is overdoing, but he says he feels ok.

Walking & Sneezing

Ed did a lot of walking today… too much. He walked over to the coffee/bagel shop where he met Gil. Gil drove him home. Then checked on a neighbor who was in a car accident, got the mail and walked home. On top of all the walking he decided to start the spaghetti sauce for me, and even though that isn’t difficult – it was one more thing he added to his already ‘full’ day.…

He is home – again

Ed came home about 2 hours ago, and is resting comfortably right now. There is such a big difference in him from yesterday. He is talkative, relaxed and that spark is back in his eye. He stopped at Gil’s for his football picks, and then went home. First thing he did was ‘hop’ on the scale and was pleased to see his weight. When he came home the first time, and got on the scale…

Positive News

Talked to Ed this morning and he had a wonderful nights sleep. The nurse recognized that he was very edgy and uptight, (and who wouldn’t be when you can’t breathe) so she asked the doctor to prescribe an anti-anxiety pill (Zanax). He said he feels so good, and I can hear the difference in his voice. My friend, Missy, mentioned this to me yesterday – and again this morning before I talked to Ed. She…

Another Update

Kimberly called me at work after spending a couple of hours with Ed. She said he was very uncomfortable and said he didn’t feel right…. and she could see it in his eyes. When I saw him in the afternoon I had to agree. No matter how he tried to sit – he was uncomfortable. He would sit, stand, walk around and when he tried to lay back – the ‘spasms’ would start. He looked…

Minor Setback

Ed was having some trouble ‘catching his breath’ over the weekend, and by Monday it was bad enough that he called the doctor. Tim took him to the hospital and they did an x-ray that showed the lungs are clear, and an echogram that showed there is no fluid around the heart…. both positive signs. They did admit him yesterday afternoon just to check other things out. He is ok, but looks pale and the…

Good to be home

He had a decent nights sleep, but not in his bed – in the recliner. We forgot about the bed being flat, unlike the hospital bed that he could adjust. He said the recliner was comfortable, so that may be his bed for a while – unless we can figure out some way to elevate the bed. He did so good walking around the house. Tim and I watched as he made his way from…
